Lindsey McDonald works for the infamous Wolfram and Hart law firm, they have less than traditional ways of dealing with troublesome people, employing the most dangerous Demons to fight for them and even protect their building. Lindsey is from a very poor family and is determined to make something of himself no matter what the cost! He and Angel first meet in the offices when Angel pushes Vampire Russell Winters out of the window. From then on in Lindsey realises that Angel is going to cause severe problems for the firm.
After Lindsey realises that Angel will not be fading into the back ground and letting the firm get on with what they do best he arranges on a few occasions to have him killed which of course never works and the demon sent never returns. After being unnerved by the Blind Girl Vanessa his finds out about he recent contract to kill some children this bothers Lindsay and we at last see a little humanity within him. Turning to his enemy Angel for help he helps him get into Wolfram and Hart and steal the files from the firms vault, Angel also takes an ancient scroll why is unknown to him in the beginning. While Angel escapes from the firm Lindsey and fellow colleagues are summoned for a random mind read.
The firms way of making sure no one goes behind their backs for anything at all, the price - Death. Lindsey knowing that they will find something is obviously very scared at the fact that he may not walk out the firm alive, however he is spared. Harland the boss takes him to one side and asks him why he has betrayed the firm by going to their sworn enemy Angel for help in defeating Vanessa. Luckily for Lindsey Harland is willing to give him time to think about what he has done and lets him go. After they defeat Vanessa Lindsey returns to the office with the disks warning that they are not the only copy and that they are to leave him alone to get on with his life. However Harland offers him a bigger and better job within the firm and the old Lindsay returns to firm. Turning against Angel once again.
After this the firm raises the demon of the underworld to recite the ritual and bring back an evil force from below, Lindsey is first at hand in the situation and in the way lie Cordelia and Wesley who ultimately end up in hospital, Cordelia with permanent visions and Wesley having been blown up in the office and the ancient scroll gone back into the hands of Wolfram and Hart. Lindsey is first there to recite the words when Angel bursts in to stop them succeeding, only Lindsey does bringing back whatever it is in the box. After Angel defeats the Demon he turns to Lindsey who holds the ancient scroll above the burning flames, Angel looks and doesn't hesitate to cut Lindsey's hand off to get t back.
Know handless and very angry Lindsey is determined to get his revenge against Angel. After Darla sleeps with Angel, Lindsey goes completely nuts he attacks Angel and almost kills him hitting him with a very large hammer.. Angel however knocks him out and he steals his truck.
After Wolfram and Hart get him a lovely new hand and he has the surgery to have this attached so to speak Lindsey notices that it begins to have a mind of it's own (anyone thinking Idle Hands here?) he learns that the hand is in fact that of a murderer who has been trapped in a case which keeps him alive along with many other people also. He and Angel, once again he goes to his enemy for help find the place and destroy it. This time Lindsey leaves town he quits Wolfram and leaves..

Lindsey: "I'm using my discretionary fund. Bring him on board."
Lilah: "Aren't you forgetting something? The senior partners want Angel alive."
Lindsey: "So?"
Lilah: "So - what if this guy is actually as good as he says and actually kills
Angel?"
Lindsey: "Boo-hoo! Let me wipe away the tears with my plastic hand!"
