Kate Lockely is a detective for the L.A Police Department, she first encounters Angel at a night-club while undercover. She at first doesn't trust him when she finds him almost standing over the body of a victim of a Demon, she however has no idea about the other world of LA and is very quick to try and arrest him. Failing they eventually come into contact once again at the club where Angel saves her from the Demon. She has had a very hard up bringing with her father and takes nothing at face value always asking the awkward questions.
When a very well known Vampire named Penn arrives in LA she finally finds out what Angel really is, not accepting it at first she does her home work and finds out about all the evil things that Angel had done in the past. The trust that they had built up is diminished in a second and she immediately goes on the offensive, even when she is faced with killing both Penn and Angel she only kills Penn leaving Angel impaled with a rather large plank of wood.
After her Father is killed by Vampires she has the ultimate choice to make, will she be Angel's friend or his enemy? Only time will tell.....
Kate: "You're telling me you're an investigator? "
Angel: "More or less. "
Kate: "Where's your license? "
Angel: "That's the less part. "
