Born on the 28th August 1973 and also the first born child into a Panamanian family Jaime Augusto Richards III grew up in Maryland in a bilingual household. He discovered his passion for acting at a really early age and enrolled in a performing arts high school. He began to appear n several plays per year loving acting and never once thinking that he may have chosen the wrong career path. Determined he moved to Los Angeles to pursue his acting career he applied to just one college and was accepted into the University of Southern California, he also won various scholarships and grants to study the Theatre.

When he graduated he began working on films, television and also in the theatre, he has been in various movies some of which are Space, Why do falls fall in love and Good Burger, Television he has appeared in The Practice, Chicago Hope and of course Angel and also a few TV movies.

In his free time he enjoys to paint and also astronomy interests him greatly, he has travelled through the US while on tour and of course loves to visit his parents whenever he can.

J. August Richards was introduced on Angel last season firstly in the episode WarZone as a "unknown" vampire slayer. He joins the cast in the second season as a series regular.

Quote: "It is kind of grandiose, isn't it? I changed my name at 14 because no one outside of my family could pronounce my first name correctly. My parents are from Panama, and so there's a primary AND a secondary stress on my first name, Jaime, so it sounds like HIGH-MAY. And my middle name is actually Augusto [Ah-GOOS-toe], so that's tough too. The funny thing is, I have so many nicknames that no one calls me by my given name anyway. Still, I have thought about changing it just to Jay Richards."
