Angel's Office
Angel tells them all that there's nothing to discuss, he's quitting. He tells them that they shouldn't be doing this job, working for evil. Gunn asks them if they think they can get out, but Angel asks him if it's that he thinks they can't leave or he doesn't want to.

Angel's telephone goes and he answers it. Wesley asks him what's wrong and he says, "Cordelia".

Hospital Room
Angel and Wesley arrive at the hospital room and call for Cordelia. She walks out from beside a bed and pulls the curtains around it complaining about not being given her own room, saying the girl in the bed is on her way out.

Wesley suggests they leave and Cordelia loves that idea but she isn't ready to go back to the hotel yet. Wesley suggests shopping for clothes.

Wolfram & Hart
Everyone is very excited to see Cordelia and they all hug her. She asks where Connor is, but the others don't know who he is. Angel takes her into his office and tells her that things aren't that bad, that they can save people. Cordelia asks if he can save himself. She tells him she woke up because she had a vision of him in trouble. Then she tells him there's a woman behind him. It's Eve. Angel tells Eve to get out, but she says the senior partners are annoyed because they are out $10million because of the client who skipped dimensions. Eve tells Angel that as she is the liaison to the senior partners and as such he has no control over her comings and goings, although he did do pretty well with her comings at the Halloween party. Cordelia is shocked, but Angel tells her it was because Lorne told them to, mystically. Cordelia tells him he's made a deal with the devil. Angel denies this and then a devil turns up to check if Angel is still free for racquetball. Cordelia stomps off leaving Angel to ask, "What did I do?"

Spike's Apartment
Spike is playing computer games. Lindsey/Doyle is telling him off for sitting round playing games. Spike claims its rehabilitation for his hands and that when Lindsey/Doyle gets a vision he'll be ready to fight evil.

Lindsey/Doyle gets a telephone call from Eve telling him Cordelia is awake and she's had a vision pointing Angel right to him.

Angel's Apartment
Angel walks in to find Cordelia watching the tape she made of Doyle to advertise Angel Investigations. Cordelia apologises for snooping. She tells Angel how annoyed she was at Doyle for going out like he did, but she says she understands now why he used his last breath to make sure Angel kept fighting. She tells him Wolfram & Hart have seduced him and there is no reason he could give why it would be right, but he tells her his reason was Connor. She asks why nobody remembers Connor and Angel tells her what he did. She isn't happy, even when Angel tells her that Connor is happy now. She says the Powers woke her up to put him back on track.

Angel tells her that Spike has a soul and is fighting evil, but Cordelia can't believe that Angel is CEO of hell incorporated and Spike's doing his job. Cordelia tells him he's lost without her so he asks her if she can show him the way, but she says it's up to him to find it. She says she can tell him who he was, someone who did right. She says when she sees that guy she'll start believing. Then she asks Angel if he ever wonders what would have happened if they'd met up at the beach that night and Angel says all the time. Cordelia suggests they missed their moment but Angel says maybe it wasn't meant to happen, people like them aren't meant to be happy. Cordelia says there are no people like them.

Lindsey/Doyles's Apartment
Lindsey/Doyle and Eve are lying on the balcony. Lindsey/Doyle tells Eve that he's not going to let the senior partners give everything he worked for to "that Euro trash vampire". Eve asks him why Angel is the centre of his universe, but he says Angel isn't she is.

Wesley's Office
Cordelia and Wesley are trying to find the markings she saw in her vision. She apologises to him for killing Lilah, but he says it wasn't her. Just then she spots the markings. Wesley recognises them as symbols to make someone invisible.

A Vault under Wolfram & Hart
Lindsey/Doyle walks into a room that has lasers across the floor. He walks through them and doesn't set them off. He's also invisible on the security cameras. He kills a demon working there and cuts a gem from his neck.

Wolfram & Hart
Cordelia is lost. She turns round and sees Spike. She says, "Spike. Heard you weren't evil any more, which kind of makes the hair silly". Spike vamps out, grabs her and bites her. Angel knocks him away from her but Spike grabs him and reminds him that he won their last fight. Angel tells him if he touches Cordelia again it'll be their last fight. Spike says he was doing a taste test to see if Cordelia is evil. He tells them that a guy with tattoos named Doyle had a vision that Cordelia was evil.

Wolfram & Hart
Eve is watching what's happening and talking to Lindsey/Doyle on the telephone. She tells him that Spike hasn't killed Cordelia and they are all talking a lot. He tells her to get out now so she turns to leave and finds Angel standing behind her. He drags her into his office and asks her what's going on. Eve won't talk, so Cordelia tells Angel to torture her. He says he can't do that, so Harmony grabs Eve and says she can do it, as she's technically evil. Angel tells her to go ahead, so she starts slapping Eve about. Eve promptly tells them that there is a failsafe built into the building that is designed to kill Angel.

Angel asks Spike if there's anything else he can tell them about the fake Doyle and Spike says that he had his hand cut off a few years earlier. Angel and Cordelia immediately realise its Lindsey. Wesley and Lorne go to see if they can erase the tattoos, while Angel, Spike and Cordelia go to find Lindsey and stop him releasing the failsafe.

The Vault
Angel, Spike and Cordelia are in the vault. Angel walks through the laser beams and releases a bunch of zombies. Spike says he'll hold them back so Angel can go on.

Angel and Cordelia walk in on Lindsey. They talk, and Lindsey says there's always time for redemption, but Angel says, some people never change. Lindsey throws Angel across the room and says, "I do".

Angel tells Cordelia to get out, but Lindsey points at the door and it shuts. Cordelia throws Angel her sword and he tells her to shut down the machine that Lindsey has started.

Lindsey and Angel fight then the floor starts to rise up.

Wesley's Office
Wesley, Gunn, Fred and Lorne are preparing a spell. It turns out they need the blood of a demon, which Lorne isn't happy about.

The vault
Angel and Lindsey are still fighting. Lindsey puts his sword through Angel then kicks him across the room. Lindsey jumps across to where Angel is and starts to taunt him. He asks Angel how it feels having his sword through him, but Angel says it could be worse, it could have been made of wood. Then Angel gets up and fights back.

Cordelia manages to shut the machine down, much to Lindsey's annoyance.

Angel beats Lindsey. Lindsey asks him if he can kill him, but Angel says he doesn't think he has to, the tattoos are disappearing. A beam of light appears behind Lindsey and Angel says, "I think the senior partners would like a word".
"You don't think they're angry do you?" Lindsey asks as he is sucked up into the beam.

Wolfram & Hart
Lorne suggests they have a drink as he gave up a lot of blood for the spell. Harmony is annoyed because she didn't get any blood, even though she begged Eve to run. Angel tells Eve never to come back, but she says she's thinking revenge. Angel points out that the senior partners would probably have something to say to her, so she leaves.

Spike is embarrassed because he thought he had a destiny, so the gang decides to go for a drink. Angel agrees and goes to get his coat. As they leave Cordelia says she'll wait for Angel. She goes into his office and finds Angel feeling bad about what happened. Cordelia says he's always trying to save everyone in the world, but this time he was the one who needed saving. Angel says that he feels he can run Wolfram & Hart and beat what's coming, and Cordelia agrees saying she knew that all the time, she just wishes she could stay to see it. Cordelia tells him that the Powers That Be owed her one and she used it to get her guy back on track. When he understood everything he could explain it to the others. She turns to leave then runs back to him and kisses him.

As they kiss the phone rings. Angel says he doesn't need to get it, but she says "That one you have to get". Then she goes to the door and turns back and says, "Oh, you're welcome" as Angel answers the phone. He is told that Cordelia has died, and that she never woke up.

Angel hangs up the phone and turns to where Cordelia was last standing and says "Thank you".

Rating and Comments:
This is an absolutely superb episode that ties up Cordelia's story beautifully. It has everything, comedy, witty remarks and poignancy. It also makes us realise how much we miss the sharp wit and insight of Cordy.

There are also a number of nods to the early Angel episodes with Doyle, especially Hero. Apart from actually showing the video Cordelia made of Doyle, we also have the original idea Cordelia had for the Dark Avenger advert with Angel. When Angel fights Lindsey, he says lines very similar to those he said as the Dark Avenger in the advert, or Cordelia's idea for the advert. Also, it's the same music playing in the background. It was very sad, but beautifully done to have both of Angel's first 'family' in the episode where Cordelia dies. He has lost both of them now, as well as his son, and yet by then end of the episode Cordelia has given him hope of success for the future.

This is an episode that needs to be seen several times. The first time, you have the tears. The second time you realise that a lot of the things Cordelia says have a different meaning when you know what happens at the end. After that you can try to count the number of references to past episodes, I counted eight.

Everything about this episode was perfect and a very fitting farewell to Cordelia.
