Previously on Angel……..
Lindsey, "To be a Black Thorn is to be the Senior Partners instrument on earth. He wouldn't make it on the Circles radar until he killed one of his lieutenants."

Angel kills Drogyn.

Angel shakes hands with one of the robed figures who says, "Welcome to the fold."

Gunn, "We know what you been doin."
Angel and the gang fight until Angel grabs Lorne and takes out the orb.
Angel, "We have six minutes."
Spike, "'Til what?"
Angel, "Until the glamour collapses. As far as anyone outside this room is concerned we're still at each others throats."

Hamilton watches the gang fight from outside the room.

Angel, "I'm talking about killing every single member of the Black Thorn."

We see a montage of pictures of the members of the group as they remove their masks.

Angel, "You need to decide if that's worth dying for."
Spike puts his hand up.
Wesley, "I'm in."
Gunn puts his hand up followed by Lorne.

Angel's Office
The gang stands in a circle with their hands up. Finally Angel puts his hand up and says, "Then we're all agreed."
Gunn asks if they're taking them all on at once but Angel says they can't because the Circle is the most powerful force on this plain of existence.

Gunn asks if Illyria can help. Angel says no because they don't know if she can be trusted, but Spike tells him she's babysitting Drogyn now. Angel tells them to get over there quick because Drogyn's dead. Spike asks how he knows and Angel tells him because he killed him. Spike throws a punch at Angel and the fight starts again, with Angel quickly subduing Spike as Hamilton walks in. Hamilton says he didn't know Angel was in a meeting, but Angel says he was just summing up. He then tells the others that Illyria is their problem.

Everyone leaves and Hamilton tells Angel he has a problem, the Black Thorn are very concerned and they want to see him right away.

Opening credits

Main

Spike's Apartment
Illyria is lying on the floor unconscious when the others enter. Wesley goes to her and she slowly comes round. Spike asks who did this to her and she tells them it was Hamilton, that he took Drogyn. Lorne says, "Straight to his buddy Angel."
Lorne thinks Angel has lost it and they could be next. He says he doesn't trust Angel, but Gunn says they don't have to trust him, they just have to pray that the Black Circle does.

The Black Circle
The members are all sitting round a table chanting. Angel looks very bored.

The Archduke says the Circle doesn't abide secrets, which Angel thinks is strange for a secret society. The Archduke tells him that the insurrection didn't go unnoticed. Then Vale goes to speak, but starts gasping for breath as the Archdukes servant gets "tangled in his bodily fluids, again".
Angel pushes the servant away and he squeaks.

The Circle tells Angel that he's a problem because there is something greater than loyalty and that is hope. They want him to sign away his Shanshu. He reaches for a pen and the devil stabs him in the hand saying, "It's got to be signed in blood."
Angel pulls the pen out of his hand and signs away his right to the prophecy in his blood.

Angel's Office
Angel is standing by the window when Harmony comes in. He asks her if she misses being human, and she says she doesn't. Then she remembers the way her heart thumped as she kissed a new boy for the first time. Angel tells her he doesn't remember what it was like to be human.

Harmony asks him what's happening. She says she knows something is going on, but she doesn't know what. Angel tells her that he needs her to keep Hamilton busy, he doesn't care how. When he goes to leave she asks him where he's going and he says to do one more thing he doesn't want to.

Wolfram & Hart
Lindsey asks Angel why either of them would trust the other. Angel says it's about the wolf, the ram and the hart, that they aren't there to be beaten, they're there to be fought. Lindsey says they will find him and mow him down, but Angel tells Lindsey to give him the 'hell on earth' speech. He says he knows the power the demons have, in fact he's the greatest mass murderer Lindsey has ever known.

Angel tells Lindsey that if everything goes wrong he'd rather Lindsey was in charge of the office than anyone else as it's better the devil you know. Lindsey asks what will happen if it all goes wrong and Angel tells him to claim he was forced into it by Angel. Lindsey says he was actually asking after Angel. He says he's in because everyone goes on about Angel being the vampire with a soul, but they never mention that he's in fact a vampire with "big brass testes". He says this is going to be the nastiest fight since mankind "drop kicked the last demon out of this dimension" and he's not doing that without Lindsey if Angel wants him. Angel says, "I want you Lindsey."
Angel, "I'm thinking of rephrasing that."
Lindsey, "Yeah, I'd be more comfortable if you did."

Spike's Apartment
Illyria is lying on the bed. Wesley tells, Spike, Gunn and Lorne that he needs more supplies from home and that they should watch over her while he's gone. Spike says that won't do much good if Hamilton makes another call.

At that moment Angel enters and asks if Hamilton did this. Lorne is surprised he didn't know. He tells them Hamilton brought Drogyn to the Circle and Wesley realises that Angel killed Drogyn to prove he'd gone over to their side. Lorne asks if there are any other tips on how to be a hero that he could give them. Angel tells them he didn't have a choice, they would have killed both of them, but Gunn cuts in and asks how they are going to stop themselves being picked off one by one. Angel says the Circle won't have a chance, they're "going after them all tonight."

Angel tells them he wants them all to take the day off; to go out and live the day like it's their last, "Because it probably is".

A Karaoke Bar
Lorne sings If I Ruled the World.

A Coffee Shop
Angel looks around then goes over to Connor who's sitting at one of the tables.

A Bar
Spike is having a good few drinks. The barman tells him the crowd can get pretty ugly. Spike says he's going to have a few more shots of courage and then he's going to make his presence felt. The barman tells him, "It's your funeral."
Spike says, "That's ok. I never had a proper one anyway."

The Shelter
Gunn asks Anne where Rondell and the gang are. She says they should be around, they were supposed to help her move some furniture to the new shelter. Gunn asks her what she'd do if she knew everything was useless, it was all preplanned and she replies that she'd get the furniture moved, then asks Gunn if he'll help her, and he does.

Spike's Apartment
Wesley is grinding up a potion while Illyria sits on the bed. She says she doesn't understand why Wesley is still there. He puts the potion on a cloth and applies it to one of her wounds and she heals. He says he won't go off and have a perfect day because there is no perfect day for him. She says, "You want to be with her."
Wesley says yes he does, and Illyria offers to be Fred again. Wesley tells her that one of the first things you learn as a Watcher is to tell truth from illusion. Fred is gone and there's nothing he can do about that.

The Bar
Spike is on stage reciting his effulgent poem to a very appreciative crowd.

The Coffee Shop
Connor is asking Angel about his relationship with Nina, he thinks there must be some fur flying involved. When Angel's off guard Connor tells him he knows Angel is his father. He tells him the memories are mixed in with his new life, but that he knows what Angel did and he's grateful, that's as far as he wants to take it.

Angel asks him what he's doing and Connor tells him he's writing a resume. Angel asks if he wants some help and Connor asks if he's ever written a resume before. Angel says no, but he has great handwriting. Connor just calls him a girl!

Wolfram & Hart
Lindsey asks Eve what she's thinking about and she says Angel. Lindsey isn't impressed, but Eve says she can't understand why Angel would trust him. Lindsey says he's glad that Eve is one thing in his life that Angel didn't 'get his mitts on'.

Lindsey tells her not to worry; he's going to be with Lorne.

Spike's Apartment
Everyone is gathered there. Angel tells them that one of them will betray him tonight. Spike puts his hand up to offer to do it and when Angel ignores him and speaks to Wes, he asks if he can deny him three times.

Angel tells Wesley that Vale will expect him to make a play for Angel's place in the Circle. Wesley isn't flattered, but Angel tells him it will get him in the door.

Next is Illyria. Angel tells her to go after the devil Azereal as he and three other members of the Circle dine together at the same place every night.

Angel sends Gunn after the Senator. He's pleased because he feels he hasn't dusted nearly enough vamps this year.

When it's Spike's turn he stands and tells Angel he's not wearing any amulets, bracelets or anything else like that. Angel says that's fine, he'll only need a rattle, as his job is to return the baby to its mother and take out the Fell Brethren.

Angel says the Archduke is the key player and so is his to deal with. He then says he needs Lorne to back up Lindsey. Lorne can't believe Angel brought Lindsey into what's happening.

Harmony's Apartment
Harmony is in bed with Hamilton. She says, "Anyway, about Angel's secret plans……"

Spike's Apartment
Angel tells them to meet in the alley behind the Hyperion if they survive their tasks. Lorne tells him that he'll do this last thing for him, but after that he's out. He's going away and he doesn't want Angel to try and find him.

Illyria tells Gunn to try not to die, as he's "not unpleasant to my eyes."

Spike asks Angel about the Shanshu. He wants to know if one of them will get it if they make it through. Angel just says, "Who are you kidding. We're not going to make it through."
Spike says he's happy as long as it's not Angel.

The Archduke's Place
Wesley is sitting at the table with the Archduke. Wesley tells him that Angel is at best unpredictable and at worst he has a conscience.

A Corridor
A group of robed figures are walking along the corridor. In the distance we can hear a baby crying. The last figure looks round. It's Spike.

The Senator's Campaign Headquarters
The Senator is on the telephone as Gunn walks in.

The Street
The devil and three others walk out of a restaurant and get in a car. When the headlights come on they see Illyria standing in front of them.

Wolfram & Hart
Angel steps out of the lift and asks Harmony where Hamilton is. She tells him he's in the records room. Angel tells her he's going out and to keep Hamilton busy. He goes into his office and Hamilton steps out of Angel's private lift. He tells Angel he hears he has plans and then he throws him through the window.

The Foyer
Angel comes crashing through the glass roof in front of Harmony. She starts babbling, saying Hamilton isn't her boyfriend, but Angel just tells her to cut the act, he knew she would betray him because loyalty isn't a high priority for her. She says she is loyal, but Angel says she betrayed him and is betraying him now, then he tells her to get out of the building. She can't believe he's firing her, but then she asks if she could at least have a recommendation. He tells her it's in her desk.

Hamilton steps out of the lift and Harmony looks at him and says "Good luck. May the best man win."

Angel hits Hamilton and he barely flinches. Angel asks if that hurt at all and Hamilton says a little bit, but it's all part of the job, then he picks Angel up by the throat and throws him through a cement pillar. He goes and picks Angel up and throws him across the room. As he walks over to where Angel is lying, he tells him that he was gutter trash, but fate stepped in and made him a hero. Even so he's still managed to fail everyone around him, Doyle, Cordelia, Fred. Then he asks Angel if he really thought he was going to kill the Archduke and Angel says, "No. I already did."

The Archduke's bathroom
The Archduke is in the bath. He picks up a glass of his servants' blood and takes a drink. He realises something is wrong and looks over at the servant who is lying dead.

We see a flashback to when Angel pushed the servant away from Vale when he was sitting at the table in the Circle's meeting place. Angel turns his hand over and he has a ring on with a spike on it that he has used to poison the servant's blood and thereby kill the Archduke.

Wolfram & Hart
Hamilton throws Angel across the room again.

The Fell Brethren's Hideout
Spike takes the baby out of its crib, but the Brethren tell him to put the child back. He doesn't and he and the Brethren fight.

Vale's Place
Wesley throws a glowing orb of magical power at Vale, but Vale easily catches it and tells him he'll show him what a real wizard can do.

Wolfram & Hart
Angel and Hamilton are fighting and Angel isn't doing well. Hamilton doesn't know why Angel is still fighting as he's signed away his Shanshu. Angel says people who don't care will never understand those who do. Hamilton agrees but says he doesn't care, then throws Angel across the foyer again. As he walks over to where Angel is lying, he picks up a piece of wood and is about to stake him when Hamilton is knocked through a glass partition. It's Connor to the rescue. Angel asks what he's doing there and Connor says, "Come on. You drop by for a cup of coffee and the world's not ending? Please"

The Senator's Campaign Headquarters
The Senator is on the telephone when Gunn stakes one of her assistants then throws a stake, which goes through her head. The other vampire assistants fight Gunn.

Wolfram & Hart
Eve is waiting for Lindsey.

A Club
Lindsey has killed all his demons. Lorne tells him this isn't his kind of work anymore, it's unsavoury. Lindsey however thinks it's just getting fun. Lindsey says Lorne doesn't trust him, but Lorne tells Lindsey that this is Angel's plan, then he shoots Lindsey. Lindsey can't believe Lorne has shot him as he says it was Angel that was supposed to kill him. Then he dies and Lorne walks out saying, "Goodnight folks".

Vale's Place
Vale has Wesley floating in the air. He asks Wesley if he really thought he could defeat him, and Wesley says, "Well we'll just have to do this the old fashioned way" and lets a knife slip from his sleeve. Vale easily knocks this away and says, "I suppose we should" then takes a huge knife from the wall and stabs Wesley in the stomach with it. Wesley conjures another ball of power and throws Vale across the room, releasing himself from the spell as Illyria walks in and catches him as he collapses. She tells him his wound is mortal. Wesley tells her he's glad she came. Illyria says she killed all hers and was concerned, but now she can't help. Then she asks him if he'd like her to lie to him and he says, "Yes. Thank you, yes" and Illyria turns into Fred.

Fred holds Wesley and talks to him and kisses him, telling him they'll soon be together. Then he tells her he loves her and she replies that she loves him, then he dies. As Fred cries, Vale comes over and says Wesley's death was touching. Then he tells her to take her best shot and as she changes back into Illyria she hits him so hard, his head explodes.

Wolfram & Hart
Angel and Connor are both fighting Hamilton and not doing very well. He knocks Connor one way and Angel the other, then he tells Angel that he can't be defeated because he is a part of the wolf, the ram and the hart; their strength runs in his veins and his blood is filled with their ancient power. Angel gets up with a smirk and says, "Can you pick out the one word you probably shouldn't have said?" then he vamps out and bites Hamilton, drinking his blood.
Hamilton knocks him away and he does a double somersault, landing easily before attacking Hamilton. Angel is know a good match for Hamilton and easily defeats him, hitting him so hard he breaks his neck. Connor gets up and asks if Hamilton is dead. Angel says he is, then, as the building starts to crack apart, he tells Connor to get away. Connor doesn't want to, he wants to help Angel, but Angel tells him as long as Connor survives, Angel lives on.

Angel goes to Eve as the building is collapsing around them. Eve says she's waiting for Lindsey, but Angel tells her he won't be back and she should go, but she has nowhere to go to.

The Alley behind the Hyperion
Angel walks into the alley and Spike steps out of a doorway. He tells Angel nobody else has arrived yet, just as Gunn hurries towards them. He is gravely injured. Gunn asks if there's any word on Wes just as Illyria drops off the roof above them. She tells them Wesley is dead and that she feels grief for him that she can't control and she wishes to do more violence. Spike says she'll get her wish as we hear wailing and shrieking getting closer. Angel looks up as a dragon flies overhead. Gunn says they should take the 30,000 on the left but Illyria tells him he's fading and only has minutes left. Gunn just replies that if that's the case they should make them memorable.

Spike asks Angel if he has a plan and Angel says he was thinking about killing a dragon. Then Angel pulls out his sword and says, "Let's get to work."
