Blood Money

Wesley, Gunn and Cordelia have decided to set up an Agency of their own (If they could only decide on a name) and are busy at Cordelias apartment (their temporary base of operations) waiting for a vision from the powers that be or a phone call from a normal client. Wesley and Gunn seem to have bonded and this bond grows even stronger when the pair go down into the sewers to do battle with a gigantic, two-headed, fire-breathing monster and suitably despatch it. Who needs the sulking vampire anyway ?

Cut to our hero and a seemingly accidental meeting in the street with a girl named Anne (could she be the runaway that Buffy met during the premiere episode of season 3?) it turns out that our hero has found a new Wolfram & Hart connection. It seems that the evil law firm is going to be making a donation to the shelter that Anne runs.

After a meeting with his informant, Angel goes off on his mission. Enter a new Demon who also pays a visit to Angels snitch and beats the information he requires from him. Our new demon in town is off to visit Wolfram & Hart.

It turns out our demon is Boone and he is looking to finish a battle he started with Angel back in the twenties, over a girl. Unlike most of the opposition in Angels life, Boone has integrity. He believes in honour and a fair fight and believes that he can take Angel. Boone doesn't believe in getting paid to kill Angel and Lindsey hires the demon out of revenge to ensure that the big charity ball Wolfram & Hart is sponsoring for Anne's shelter goes off without a hitch.

Rather than just the usual destruction and killing spree, Angel decides to go with the law, foil their plans and expose the law firm's criminal activities. Unfortunately, Wolfram & Hart have other plans for our hero. As Angel tries to convince the teen shelter's manager that Wolfram & Hart is all kinds of evil, Lindsey and the newly recruited Boone arrive to stop him mid-convincing.

At the charity ball set up to net the shelter (and ultimately Wolfram & Hart) large sums of money from wealthy contributors, aided by Anne the shelter manager and Boone his old Nemesis, Angel tricks Lindsey and Lilah into revealing their plans. A dummy cassette tape (containing some funny scenes of Cordy practising her commercial lines and Wesley just mucking around) is all it takes to send the 2 co-vice presidents into a panic. In the ensuing chaos Boone walks off with the money. Anne, who's had her own experience with vampires, wonders where the money went and can’t believe she trusted a vampire.

Angel arrives back at his Hotel office, only to find that he must eventually battle it out for honour with his nemesis and shows up at the shelter with the now metaphorically and literally blood stained money.
Rating and Comments:
In my opinion this episode shows how Angel is prepared to let nothing get in his way of destroying the plans of Wolfram & Hart. I also think that perhaps his using a video of Cordelia and Wesley is showing us that (sub-consciously anyway) he is missing his old gang.
