In The Dark
| This episode sees the first cross over event of the series, Spike and Oz come to LA. Spike comes after the ring that makes the wearer un-killable, sunlight, stakes whatever makes no difference at all. Oz is in town primarily for a gig but also has the ring as a gift for Angel from Buffy. Obvious what she wants but Angel declines the offer and buries the ring in the sewers that he uses to get around LA in the daylight. Angel is eventually kidnapped by Spike and tortured so that Spike can get the ring although he knows that Angel is a tough one to torture. He eventually goes to Angel's apartment to try and find it himself, meeting Doyle and Cordelia, Cordelia armed with a crossbow, knowing that she wouldn't have the time to use it if she needed to they have no choice but to find the ring and take it to Spike before he kills Angel. They eventually find it in the sewers with a little help from Doyle's other Demon half unknown to Cordelia. They meet up with Spike in the old warehouse and see Angel, unknown to Spike Oz bursts in in his van and they take off with Angel in the back the ring left behind with Spike. When he comes to get it, it has gone his helper walking around in daylight with his lust for small children. Angel realises this and orders them to find him even though he is weak from the torture. This is one moment that I have always wanted to see, Angel in daylight! he defeats the Vampire under the pier and places the ring on his finger, seeing for the first time in hundreds of years the day. He watches the sunset from the roof of the apartment building and then destroys the ring, knowing that if he keeps it he will not be able to help people in the same way he is doing know, also knowing that his chance to be with Buffy is finally over and that it will never be... Or will it? |
